Decided on another visit to cod corner,so met Kev at silly oclock and we were fishing by 6.00am just as the tide started to flood. We normally expect codling around an hour in when the tide starts running hard...and with only a few knocks and a fish come of on kev things werent looking the best. Also the wind was picking up and although it was off our backs the gusts were a right pain blowing tackle around and rod rests rattling and collapsing. We fished 2 rods each and the tackle losses were mounting with still nothing to show for it lol.Three other lads joined us but all they were catching was the snags.Kev had just said about an hour before HW,we should get a run of fish now when my rod bounced nicely just the once,i picked it up and felt for a fish but nothing.Thinking it a bit strange i left it a few mins then decided to reel in and rebait,on pulling to free the lead i felt weight and thought i had caught an old tackle ball.Anyway it was coming in when i felt it pull back and realised it was a fish, once it was out of the tidal flow it came to the top and i hoisted it over the rail,a plump little codling of 3lb4oz and a pb for me.
We fished on and i had a not bad size whiting, but that was it and the ebb was pulling too hard to fish so we moved round the corner to the prom itself and decided to give it a few hrs more.It wasnt long before Kev had nice bite and put the blank to bed with a little codling himself......
Gave it till 3pm then the rain started and with the wind taking Kevs flask cup into the river we decided to give in......not a great days fishing but we had one each and a pb for me so went home happy...to tie rigs and make leads lololol ...for the next visit.
